Privacy Policy
How BumbleTap handles your data — in short, the extension keeps it on your device, and the website keeps it to a minimum.
Last updated · June 18, 2026
The short version: The BumbleTap extension keeps your data on your device — we never collect it. This website (bumbletap.com) collects only what's needed to run it: your email if you subscribe, basic server logs, and cookies for essential functionality and, where used, analytics and advertising. We don't sell your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains how BumbleTap ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the website at bumbletap.com (the "Site") and the BumbleTap browser extension (the "Extension"). By using the Site or the Extension, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who this policy covers
BumbleTap is an independent project operated by Shahzeb Umer. This policy applies to:
- The Site — our marketing pages, blog (Keystrokes), and documentation.
- The Extension — the BumbleTap browser extension distributed through the Chrome Web Store.
The two are handled very differently, so we call out which is which throughout.
2. Information we collect
We keep data collection to a minimum. On the Site, we may collect:
- Information you give us. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the email address you submit. If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to include.
- Automatically collected technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server log data — IP address, browser type, device and operating system, referring page, and the date/time of your request. This is used for security, debugging, and aggregate traffic measurement.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See section 4.
We do not ask for, or knowingly collect, sensitive personal information through the Site.
3. The BumbleTap extension is local-only
Your bindings never leave your browser. The Extension stores your shortcuts, auto-actions, and settings locally using your browser's storage API. It has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics — we have no way to access your configuration or browsing activity.
The Extension does not transmit your data to us or to any third party. For the full breakdown of what the Extension stores on your device and the browser permissions it uses, see the dedicated detail in this policy's companion sections and the Extension's own listing. Nothing in the Site sections below applies to data inside the Extension, because we never receive it.
4. Cookies and tracking technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them on the Site in three categories:
- Essential — required for the Site to function (e.g., remembering your light/dark theme preference). These are always active.
- Analytics — where enabled, these help us understand aggregate, de-identified usage (which pages are read, roughly how many visitors). See section 6.
- Advertising — if and where we display third-party ads, advertising partners may set cookies to measure and personalize ads. See section 5.
Non-essential cookies are used only with your consent where required by law (for example, in the EEA and UK). You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time; blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the Site work.
5. Advertising and third-party vendors
The Site may display advertising to help keep BumbleTap free. Where we do:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com).
- You can opt out of personalized advertising from many vendors at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
Third-party advertising networks operate under their own privacy policies; we encourage you to review them.
6. Analytics
Where we use a privacy-respecting analytics service, it is to understand aggregate trends — not to identify you. Any analytics provider we use acts as a processor on our behalf and is bound to use the data only to provide the service to us.
7. How we use information
We use the limited information we collect to:
- Send the newsletter you asked for (and nothing else) — you can unsubscribe at any time.
- Operate, secure, debug, and improve the Site.
- Measure aggregate traffic and content performance.
- Display advertising where applicable.
- Comply with legal obligations.
For visitors in the EEA/UK, our legal bases under the GDPR are: consent (newsletter, non-essential cookies), legitimate interests (security, aggregate analytics, running the Site), and legal obligation where applicable.
8. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Service providers who help us operate the Site (hosting, email delivery, analytics, advertising) and only as needed to perform those services.
- Legal and safety recipients, where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal information, and to object to certain processing.
- EEA/UK (GDPR): you may exercise the rights above and withdraw consent at any time, and you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): you may request to know, delete, or correct your personal information and may opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise the opt-out for any ad-related "sharing," adjust the advertising opt-outs in section 5 or contact us.
To make a request, email us at umershahzeb@gmail.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
10. Data retention
We keep newsletter emails until you unsubscribe. Server logs are retained for a short period for security and debugging. We retain other information only as long as necessary for the purposes described here or as required by law.
11. Children's privacy
The Site and Extension are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. International data transfers
We operate from, and use service providers in, various countries. Where information is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Links to other sites
The Site links to third-party websites (for example, the Chrome Web Store). We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; review their policies separately.
15. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
